AUSTSWIM course opens doors for a bright future

9 June 2020

As swimming lessons resume across Western Australia aquatic centres are seeking qualified swimming instructors to lead classes so that children can learn vital swimming and water safety skills.

Some centres are having difficulty re-engaging staff following the COVID-19 shutdown, which opens up opportunities for new swim instructors to train and take on positions in time for the busy Spring and Summer season.

Port Hedland Leisure and Royal Life Saving WA have teamed up to provide an AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety course at South Hedland Aquatic Centre on the 20th and 21st June, with swim instructors desperately needed across the Pilbara region.

Town of Port Hedland’s Hon. Commissioner Fred Reibeling says Port Hedland Leisure is thrilled to be offering the course. “This course leads skills and drills that provide knowledge, skills and understanding in water safety and swimming pools, which is both life changing and lifesaving. We’re excited to be able to further empower our team members with this course, further building Port Hedland Leisure’s capability as a trusted and exemplary deliverer of swim safety for our community’s families.”

The course will enable those who complete it to be fully qualified and ready to go ahead of Term Three. AUSTSWIM accreditation is valid for three years, nationally recognised and is a great way to start a bright future in the aquatic industry.
