Fundraising partnership supporting the WA community

29 March 2023

During the month of January, Red Dot stores across the state raised funds for Royal Life Saving WA, with customers asked for donations at the register.

This year, generous shoppers contributed $5,000 over the four-week appeal which went towards the Swim and Survive Fund.

Royal Life Saving Manager of Direct Fundraising, Michelle Taylor, says the Red Dot stores and their customers have been hugely supportive over the years.

“They advertise Royal Life Saving in their Christmas catalogue, which is letterboxed and in store, and with over 50 stores in WA, the exposure across the state is great for our organisation,” she said.

“In their endeavours to help raise funds, Red Dot has sold our products and collected donations.  This year was a little different, opting to collect donations only."

Red Dot staff members Zach and CynaOver the past five years, the January appeal has helped Royal Life Saving reach our fundraising goals, collecting over $30,000 in donations.

“Their ongoing support for the community should be commended. On behalf of everyone at Royal Life Saving, I would like to express our sincere gratitude for your ongoing support,” said Michelle.

This year’s donations went towards our WA Swim and Survive Fund, a grant to help families from lower socio-economic backgrounds, or those affected by disabilities, access swimming lessons.

Steve Overing, Red Dot General Manager Commercial, said the WA-owned business has supported local community initiatives since it was founded in 1992.

"We wish to support locals with the best offers and support local not-for-profit organisations as our way of giving back through the valued support of our customers,” he said.

Thanks to generous organisations like Red Dot, and their customers, we can work towards ensuring everyone has the opportunity to learn vital swimming and water safety skills that could one day save a life.
