The Hedland Community came together last Friday 6th December to celebrate International Day of People with Disability at South Hedland Aquatic Centre. Royal Life Saving WA’s Pilbara Development Officer Jacqui Forbes attended the event, along with 8 swim instructors. Two swim instructors with a little boy in an inflatable boat

It was a splashing good time for everyone who attended, with the day filled with all-inclusive activities and a sausage sizzle. It was great to see people of all abilities enjoying fun in the water!

Empowering People in Communities (EPIC) with the support of Royal Life Saving, the Town of Port Hedland, Qube Ports and Bulk and Port Haven Port Hedland held this free community event to increase public awareness for the people in our community who live with disability; and celebrate their achievements and contributions.

It’s fantastic to see so many aquatic centres across WA providing accessible facilities and specialised programs to ensure those with a disability can enjoy the water activities that are such a vital part of our Western Australian culture.
