Royal Life Saving WA Training Courses

Royal Life Saving WA is pleased that due to WA achieving another day of 0 positive COVID -19 tests our training courses will now be abe to go ahead as scheduled from Saturday 6th February 2021. We are aware that the State Government has put in place some transitional rules for those in the Perth metro and Peel regions until 12.01am on Sunday 14th February 2021.

In order to ensure we are adhering to these transition out of lockdown rules we require the following of all students participating in our trainings during this time:

  • Wearing of masks by both students and trainers. Masks are permitted to be removed by:
    1) a trainer when instructing from the front of the classroom
    2) a student when required for learning and assessment and a mask is not plausible (i.e. swimming, performing CPR etc).
  • Check-in using the SafeWA app or through the contact register at the training location

In addition you can be assured that we are adhering to the 4 square metre rule for all training locations. Most courses will go ahead as planned, while in some cases participant numbers have been limited and a small number of courses have been cancelled. Any affected students will be contacted directly by our training team.

As for existing standards we still request that if you are feeling sick, have a temperature of 37.5 or more, or have come into contact with someone who has tested positive to COVID-19 (this includes someone who is awaiting their test result), you will not be admitted to class. If this applies to you please contact us at training@royallifesavingwa.com.au or (08) 9383 8200 to reschedule the course or receive a refund – at no charge.

  • Does the 4m2 rule apply to the size of the pool water space or the size of the pool hall/area that the pool is in? Govt advice - the pool area that the pool is in.
  • Will a parent and their child be treated as one person in regard to applying the 4m2 rule? Govt advice – Currently No. We are seeking further clarification expected by COB today.
  • Does the 150 person maximum apply to the whole centre? Govt advice – Yes. You cannot split a centre by dry side / wet side.

Endorsed Swim Schools that are part of a larger facility should check with their landlord / land owner about any additonal rules or extra requirements that apply.

Parents attending one of our Endorsed Swim Schools can expect to receive further communication from their swim school about any specific requirements or changes that will be put in place.

We would like to remind all those working at or attending our Endorsed Swim Schools to continue to adhere to existing COVID safety guidelines:

  • Don’t go to work or attend a swimming lesson if you are feeling sick or unwell
  • Practice physical distancing and stay 1.5 metres away from others wherever possible
  • Practice good personal hygiene and wash your hands often with soap and water
  • Frequently clean and disinfect surfaces
  • Check in with the SAFE WA app or manual contact register when entering the facility

If you have any additional questions or concerns, we are available during normal business hours, or you can submit your enquiry via our website 24 hours a day.
