The dinosaurs at the City of Wanneroo’s Kingsway Water Play Space are now ready for their first victims visitors of the season! These majestic water sprayers have been patiently waiting throughout the colder months for the opportunity to come alive again and delight the children who come to play.

Located at Kingsway Regional Sporting Complex in Madeley, the aquatic play space is a zero-depth dinosaur themed water playground with water features that can be activated for 10-minute intervals. It is open 8am to 7pm daily between October and April.

The Royal Life Saving WA Workforce Solutions team, who maintain the aquatic play space for the City of Wanneroo, have been hard at work getting the area ready for the summer season. The play space was officially open for play on Friday 1st October.

This included draining and cleaning both water-holding tanks, requiring operators to conduct confined space entry and exit works. Both tanks were then filled and super chlorinated for 48 hours.

The entire filtration and disinfection/dosing systems were recommissioned and a backwash conducted, winter caps were replaced with summer jets and the entire system cleaned, sanitised and flushed to waste. All external grating and strainers were also removed, cleaned and sanitised.

“My team have worked very hard to ensure all Department of Health compliances were met prior to the season start,” said Workforce Solutions Operations Coordinator Warren Goodwin. “Path West microbiological samples came back clear and received Department of Health approval to proceed to opening.”

Workforce Solutions Operators are currently visiting the site twice a day to ensure water chemistry stays within set parameters, so that visitors to the play space can safely enjoy darting among the water jets!
