Living it up in Useless Loop

The VacSwim program spans all across WA including all the way up to the Heirisson Prong on Denham Sound in UNESCO World Heritage Site Shark Bay to the small town of Useless Loop.
This time, Royal Life Saving WA called upon the help of the fantastic Fletcher to run the 9-day program in partnership with the Department of Education.
Travelling from Perth to Monkey Mia then a short charter flight to Useless Loop, it wasn't long before Fletcher was made to feel as though Useless Loop was his home away from home.
The community embraced Fletcher's kind nature and vibrant personality with the lessons gaining traction, when locals realised who was in charge of teaching them.
Starting out with just three participants, Fletcher managed to increase class size six-fold teaching vital swimming and water safety skills from Stage 1 to Stage 14.
This is pivotal for a place like Useless Loop as the community is based around the water, therefore it is important as ever that they have the knowledge on how to act safely in these environments.
A parent of a lesson participant loved the intensive lesson set up finding it beneficial to not only their child's learning habits but others as well. When teaching
such important content, you must make sure it is well received by all involved as teaching is always for the benefit of others. The intention is that knowledge will be passed on to make future generations more educated than those who came before them.
Another parent said, ''they would like another set of swimming lessons to be held in the near future at the pool and would love nothing more than if Fletcher was to be the teacher.''
And the feeling was mutual with Fletcher raving about everyone in the community as they made him feel so welcome.
''I felt like a Useless Loop local by the end of my trip there. On the weekends I was taken out by the locals on day trips where we went fishing and saw heaps of marine life, not mention the amazing views and landscapes on offer," Fletcher said.
