New Hedland Aquatic Trainers flex their muscles

11 November 2019
Royal Life Saving WA’s Talent Pool program is making a splash in Hedland! The region will now benefit from having two new fully qualified aquatic trainers and lifeguards to promote water safety and fitness within the Hedland community.

two Talent Pool participants with program manager Tim TurnerRekinda Yarren-Binsaad and Isaac Bundamurra have undertaken intensive training over the past two months with Talent Pool Manager Tim Turner and have now both completed their aquatic trainer and pool lifeguard training.

The aquatic trainer qualification allows them to deliver the Bronze Medallion course as part of a state-wide network of community trainers supported by Royal Life Saving WA. Rekinda and Isaac are working closely with Tim as they plan to deliver their first course – an extended Bronze Medallion – during the upcoming school holidays in January.

Both Rekinda and Isaac are keen to give back to their community and to ensure children within the area have access to water safety education and can enjoy swimming for fitness and health.

Their achievement has been made possible by funding from the WA Department of Communities and the Commonwealth Department of Regional Development’s Building Better Regions program.
