The community of Onslow recently enjoyed a Pool Fun Day at the Shire of Ashburton’s Onslow Aquatic Centre to celebrate the start of this year’s pool season!

It was a perfect day for a pool party – clear blue skies, warm and sunny!

The event was a combined season opener fun day and Swim School Open Day event to celebrate the first day of the Onslow Swim School for the season. As a Royal Life Saving WA Endorsed Swim School, the Onslow Swim School participates in the annual Swim School Open Days campaign, with promotional items and giveaways provided by Royal Life Saving WA.

Onslow’s Swimming Pool Coordinator Andrew Price was extremely pleased with the turnout at the event. “Between 10am and 2pm we had over 85 visits, which is great for our little centre,” he said. “Two extra runs to the shop were required to purchase more barbecue sausages! I initially bought and cooked 50 sausages, but the queue did not decrease so I went to buy more, then had to go a third time!”

The event was attended by 31 adults and 55 children who had a great time making the most of the day’s festivities. The kids had a great time splashing about in the pool, with some even enjoying their first swimming lesson of the season.
