Our grants keep Collie kids savvy in Swim and Survive
Royal Life Saving WA is proud to announce Aqua Splash Swim School in Collie is one of the nine selected Endorsed Swim Schools receiving a grant of $1000 this year. The partnership between Royal Life Saving WA and Aqua Splash has seen eight at-risk students participate in Swim & Survive lessons during Term 1.
Royal Life Saving WA is providing grants of $1000 to selected Endorsed Swim Schools to help increase the amount of WA children learning to Swim & Survive. These grants are targeted at individuals who are experiencing financial hardship and otherwise would not be able to participate in swimming lessons.
Swim School Coordinator Maureen Lasisz says the students who benefited from the funding have “gone ahead in leaps and bounds” and will be looking out for further funding opportunities in the future to help even more students learn to vital swimming and water safety skills.
This is the second year the WA Swim & Survive fund grants have been available for our Endorsed Swim Schools. In 2016/2017 a total of $9000 was given out, which helped fund lessons for 79 individuals who were at-risk for a range of different reasons. This year we are on track to fund over 100 participants!
The Swim and Survive Fund is part of our broader Access and Equity program, which is proudly supported by BHP, the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries and the Office of Multicultural Interests.
