RAC team trains for busy season ahead
Staff from the RAC Karri Valley Resort are ready to dive into the summer season, after teaming up with Royal Life Saving WA for two days of safety training, water rescues and first aid sessions.
Royal Life Saving Safe Venues Coordinator, John East, says both organisations are committed to water safety and training.
“We were happy to support them with their request, providing a safe environment for their guests at the beautiful Lake Beedleup at Karri Valley Resort in Pemberton,” he said.
Eight resort staff members signed up for the training session facilitated by Royal Life Saving Trainer Cameron Eglington, held at the Manjimup Aquatic Centre Pool and resort lake.
The group learnt essential resuscitation skills and had their water rescue capabilities tested, completing rescues using equipment for tow rescues in the water.
Day two of the training was hampered by strong wind and rain, but that didn’t stop the group practicing in-house first-aid activities for airway obstructions, bites and stings, burns and hypothermia.
“Overall, it was a great time had by all in scenario-based learning opportunities with co-workers to upskill in time for approaching the busy spring and summer season,” said Cameron.
