Newly renovated foyer
Renovated headquarters courtesy of Lotterywest grant
A recent upgrade to the Royal Life Saving WA Headquarters was made possible through a generous grant provided by Lotterywest, enabling us to better support communities across Western Australia in accessing water safety skills and reducing the impact of drowning.
The grant allowed for the refurbishment of the existing reception area and the creation of four new meeting areas and multifunctional spaces. Many groups were involved in the process to ensure the design, which includes local Aboriginal culture, enhanced the collaboration of the community organisations that use the facilities.
These common areas can benefit all who come to the headquarters, which includes participants enrolled in over 300 training courses taking place each year. Groups and committees associated with Royal Life Saving WA have utilised the facility to enhance their work in reducing drowning and building stronger and healthier communities.
The office in Mount Claremont isn’t just home to Royal Life Saving WA but also Leisure Institute of Western Australian, Paddle WA and Water Polo WA
In response to the upgrade Ian Brown, General Manager, said “the shared recreational space has not only brought the volunteer groups, committees, stakeholders and staff together, it has provided much needed facilities for those attending our headquarters for events and training.”
Lotterywest’s vision of building a better Western Australia together was also taken into consideration with the planning of the renovation. Such items include acknowledging the Aboriginal traditional owners, incorporating healthy food options and providing environmental provisions to reduce waste and improve recycling.
In addition to the comfort and aesthetics of the design the security of the facility has been upgraded to provide access to the building employees, community groups and volunteers at times during the day that suit their needs.
Royal Life Saving WA would like to thank Lotterywest for being a major supporter of our works.
