Royal Life Saving staff celebrate RUOK Day
To celebrate RUOK Day and encourage staff to talk about life with each other, a special morning tea was enjoyed at Royal Life Saving WA headquarters today. RUOK Day is a national day of action dedicated to reminding everyone that every day is the day to ask, “Are you ok?” and support those struggling with life's ups and downs.
The morning tea was made all the more special by some amazing catering from Pete’s Eats, a catering service provided by Peter Rossen. Peter, who has Down’s Syndrome, is a much-loved staff member of Royal Life Saving WA who first became a part of our team while volunteering during his time as a student at John XXIII College’s Mary Ward Centre.
Peter demonstrated that he was very motivated and loved to work at Royal Life Saving, so after he completed school we offered him a job. He has been working in our head office two half days per week since November 2013.
In recent years Peter has developed a passion for cooking and is now providing catering through his company Pete’s Eats. He and his assistant Max go to people’s homes and cater dinner parties. They’ve received some rave reviews and do an amazing job.
Recently they’ve spread their wings and done some morning tea and lunchtime catering also, and for today’s morning tea at Royal Life Saving they provided some incredible Saltbush Fudge, brownies, orange cake, melting moments and a healthy fruit platter!
