SPASA Awards recognise the best in the industry
Last weekend the best of the best in WA’s swimming pool and spa industry were recognised during an awards night at the Hyatt Perth Hotel. The annual Swimming Pool and Spa Association of WA (SPASAWA) awards night, held on the evening of Saturday 11th June, attracted more than 200 entries and 400 guests.
There was increased participation in the awards this year from all sectors across the industry including Pool Builders, Suppliers, Pool Shops and Mobile Technicians.
SPASAWA State Manager Bryce Steele says “We are very fortunate here in Western Australia to have some of the best pool builders and service providers in the country. The pool and spa industry in WA continues to set the benchmark for not only the rest of Australia but right around the world as leaders in the construction of pools, spas and the servicing of the retail and aftermarket sectors.”
“The competition gets tougher every year as our members are always looking for that advantage over their competitor. Winning an award provides incredible recognition that will help build reputation – it’s a great way for the award winner to let everybody know that they’re an award-winning professional and an industry leader”.
Royal Life Saving Society WA sponsored the Education and Training Excellence Award on the evening, which was won by Aquatic Leisure Technologies (ALT).
ALT comprises several major divisions including Aqua Technics, Sapphire Pools, and Buccaneer Swimming Pools, and was the first fibreglass swimming pool company in Australia to be accredited as a Quality Endorsed Company. The company is also Australia’s largest exporter of prefabricated composite pools, WA’s largest fibreglass pool manufacturer and has the largest swimming pool manufacturing facility in Australia.
The Education and Training Excellence award recognises an orgnaisation that has achieved excellence in enabling the provision of education and training to its employees or the industry.
In early 2014 Aquatic Leisure Technologies developed a business excellence initiative called “The ALT Way”. An important component of the initiative was cultural development and training of 140 staff in a 24 months traineeship – Certificate III and IV in Competitive Systems and Practices.
Royal Life Saving Society WA CEO Peter Leaversuch says “We’re pleased to sponsor the SPASAWA Awards, and the Education and Training Excellence Award is particularly relevant as our purpose is to empower the community to be safe in and around water. We believe every home pool owner should be a lifesaver, and working with the industry that supports pool owners is a great way to communicate this message.”
"Looking ahead to next summer Royal Life Saving will seek to align its Keep Watch program with the activities of SPASAWA and its Members to ensure maximum community impact."
