Spooky Halloween fun at the Warmun Remote Pool
It was a spooky, scary night at our Warmun Remote Aboriginal Swimming Pool last Saturday, as over 100 people attended a community Halloween Pool Party at the facility!
Working with the Warmun Youth team, Pool Manager Stephen Waterman put on a spectacular evening that involved a whole range of locals! The local Police, Teachers from Ngalangangpum School Warmun and Purnululu Aboriginal Independent Community School, the Warmun CEO, Roadhouse Managers and workers, and the Community Store Manager and family all lent a hand to make it a spectacular night, which was enjoyed by dozens of local families.
There was a BBQ with heaps of food, face painting for the kids, a slip and slide on the grass, and the pool inflatable as well. Parents were very surprised and happy to receive a welcome gift bag upon entry, which included healthy fruit snacks and Swim for Fruit merchandise. The kids were extremely excited about the party, with some dressing up while all of them loved the decorations around the pool.
Stephen says it was a fantastic night. “We had a great evening with the community and it was amazing to see everybody coming together. The local Police assisted with the slip and slide as well as jumping in the pool and helping watch the kids on the inflatable.”
He adds, “Everybody in the community helped to make this a safe, fun, and memorable event, and we would like to say a special thank you to all of our sponsors Royal Life Saving WA, the Department of Communities, the Swim for Fruit program, BHP and Healthway’s Go for 2 and 5. Without your ongoing support these events would not be possible in remote communities.”
We love seeing our remote pools used for special community events throughout the season, and look forward to seeing the Warmun children and families continue to use the pool for fun and education over the coming months!
