Water safety a family priority for latest VIP raffle winner

26 November 2021
Royal Life Saving WA’s latest VIP raffle winner is committed to water safety and plans to use some of the proceeds of her win towards water safety and first aid education for her family this summer.

Allyson of Mosman Park held the lucky ticket number 73663 which was drawn as the winning ticket in our October VIP raffle, netting herself and her family an incredible $10,000 cash! Allyson couldn’t believe her ears, convinced at first that it was a prank call when she received the good news.

For Allyson, the importance of water safety made it an easy decision to support the work of Royal Life Saving as a VIP Club member. “It’s a no brainer to support Royal Life Saving,” she says. “Our kids grow up in the water and it makes sense for us to support this because we see these risks every day. We are both working in health, and we see the dangers of unsafe water activities. For us it was kind of logical to get behind a prevention initiative.”

During the upcoming summer holidays, Allyson plans to invest in swimming lessons for herself as well as enrolling her children in kids first aid courses. She also wants the entire family to get their Bronze Medallion. She sees the ability to swim for her family means more independence and the ability to enjoy family holidays.

Allyson has always been committed to water safety at a young age for her kids, saying it was an easy decision. “It’s like breathing. You learn to drive a car; you learn to swim. You live in Perth; you’re surrounded by water. It’s one of the ten commandments of living in Perth.”
