Wrapping up our water workshops on a high note
Last Saturday, swim instructors and aquatic trainers from across Perth gathered at Riverton Leisureplex for the highly anticipated conclusion to a workshop series led by Royal Life Saving WA’s expert trainers Joanne Jolly, Cathie Calleja and Sallie Watson.
Centred around the question, “How can we make lessons more accessible to everyone?”, the training sessions covered a range of topics from teaching beginner adults, adapting lessons for multicultural learners, stroke development, and different types of rescues.
The attendees left the day feeling empowered with new skills and ideas to try out on their own classes. Thanks to the amazing support from VICI SWIM each participant also received a brand-new swim cap featuring beautiful Australia-themed designs!
This series of professional development courses held at Fremantle Leisure Centre, Riverton Leisureplex, and Craigie Leisure Centre are part of Royal Life Saving’ ongoing efforts to maintain industry-leading standards in aquatic education, ensuring that swim teachers and trainers are well-prepared for the upcoming busy summer season and beyond.
Sam Currie, Swim Program Coordinator at Fremantle Leisure Centre, praised the delivery of the sessions, remarking, "The way Royal Life Saving presenters delivered the content was both engaging and inclusive, and it was clear that they tailored their approach to meet the diverse needs of our staff members."
A big thank you to trainers Cathie Calleja, Joanne Jolly, Sallie Watson and VICI SWIM for making these training sessions such a success!
