A year of milestones and memories

Trainers and Swim Teachers at the annual Christmas PartyLast Friday evening, 70 swim teachers, trainers, and swim school coordinators gathered to celebrate another incredible year at the annual Trainers and Swim Teachers Christmas Party.

Set against the stunning backdrop of Wembley Golf Course, the evening was a chance for colleagues and friends to reconnect over delicious food, share stories, and reflect on the highlights of the past twelve months.

The event kicked off with warm welcomes and laughter as familiar faces reconnected, new connections were made, and adventurous guests took to the driving range for a challenge.

This year’s celebration highlighted some impressive milestones for Royal Life Saving WA’s members, which couldn’t have been accomplished without the hard work and dedication of more than 100 endorsed swim schools, 400 trainers, and 1,000 swim teachers across the state. Guests were also treated to a special video, showcasing the range of programs and events delivered by staff throughout the year.

Three members were recognised for their outstanding contributions:

  • Anne Fisher received the Western Australia Companion Member Award, marking an extraordinary 25 years of swim teaching. Moving from Scotland to Australia, Anne has turned her love of teaching into a lasting legacy, helping thousands of kids grow their confidence and skills in the pool.
  • Jacqui Wright was awarded the Western Australia Fellow Member Award for her dedication to teaching first aid through the Heart Beat Club program. With her friendly, approachable instruction, she has empowered hundreds of parents, grandparents, and carers with vital lifesaving skills.

  • Maureen Lasisz took home the Western Australia Guardian Member Award, celebrating more than 45 years of teaching, mentoring, and volunteering. Whether co-managing Aqua Splash Swim School in Collie or coaching basketball on the side, her energy and generosity are always an inspiration to her community.

To wrap up the festivities, guests headed to the driving range for plenty of laughs, a few impressive shots, and a shared gratitude for a group of people who work so hard to make a difference.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined the celebration. Your passion, hard work, and dedication are what make delivering our lifesaving programs possible. We’ll see you again in the New Year!
