Royal Life Saving Society WA wins 2025 CERIPH Values in Action Award

4 June 2025
This week, the Royal Life Saving Society WA was honoured to receive the 2025 CERIPH Values in Action Award at the annual CERIPH Breakfast event, held on Tuesday, 27 May.

The award highlights Royal Life Saving WA’s longstanding commitment to research and collaboration in delivering water safety and drowning prevention programs to the Western Australian community.

We’re proud of our ongoing partnership with the Collaboration for Evidence, Research and Impact in Public Health (CERIPH) at Curtin University, grounded in our shared values of evidence-informed practice, co-creation, and innovation.

Speaking on behalf of the organisation, CEO Peter Leaversuch shared, “We are honoured to accept this award on behalf of Royal Life Saving, our staff, our Board, our working groups and our members. To be recognised by CERIPH is both a great source of pride and a motivation to be better into the future.”

Peter also highlighted the organisation’s evolving focus under its new strategic plan and the organisation’s purpose ‘Bringing people together to eliminate drowning and empower communities to be safe around water’.

“Our new strategic plan seeks to impact adults, tackling a complex combination of vulnerabilities, exposures and hazards. We need to better understand the efficacy of existing watercraft safety campaigns, how we can better collaborate with the Marine Safety sector, as well as leveraging healthy ageing programs.”

The annual CERIPH Breakfast brings together individuals and organisations working across the health promotion sector. It is a chance to learn from each other, share progress, and celebrate the role partnerships play in achieving positive outcomes.

Royal Life Saving WA is grateful for the support of the Western Australian Department of Health and CERIPH and looks forward to continuing this important work together.
