Royalty VIP Club program receives FIA award

4 March 2016

The Royal Life Saving Society WA received an award from the Fundraising Institute of Australia last night, taking out the 2016 FIA National Award for Donor Aquisition over $5M revenue for our Royalty VIP Club program.

The Royalty VIP Club allows supporters to assist Royal Life Saving with monthly financial contributions, which give them entries in our monthly raffle draws throughout the year.  Funds received through the program enable to us to provide support services and HELP Grants to those impacted by drowning in our community.

General Manager - Marketing, Allan Godfrey says "the award is given to campaigns that show fundraising excellence, so it's about good practise, ethical behaviour, the quality of the campaign and the engagement with supporters and donors.  We were competing against the best fundraising campaigns in the country, so this means a lot in terms of endorsing the quality of work that our team and the organisation does in terms of fundraising, and that it is best practise."

Many of the supporters who join our Royalty VIP Club come through engagement with the public in shopping centres, malls and on the street.  The program aims to connect with people who care about water safety and who want to help those who are living with the burden of drowning. Mr Godfrey says those generous supporters who've joined the VIP Club have made an amazing impact.

"The money that we've raised through VIP over the past 12 months represents about half the organisation's fundraising revenue. It's enabled us to introduce support services and HELP grants for those who've lost a child through drowning, or those supporting a child who has long-term health issues following a non-fatal drowning incident. That's the kind of work we previously weren't able to fund, so effectively without VIP Club and those supporters we wouldn't have been able to introduce those services."

Mr Godfrey says the Royalty VIP Club is a real team effort;  "We use an external agency called Appco Group who've done an amazing job of being able to deliver the message about our services to the public, and motivate people to get on board and help, so we really appreciate the work that Appco Group have done in this campaign. The engagement of all our staff has also been vital, in terms of getting behind the program and supporting the work the guys are doing in the field.  But most importantly a big measure of thanks needs to go to those supporters who've joined the Royalty VIP Club, and made financial contributions. Without their support many families impacted by drowning would have missed out on essential services and assistance in the past 12 months."
