Lap swimming champions

17 December 2015

Three girls from Fitzroy Crossing have been rewarded after swimming the most laps during the term four Go For 2 & 5 Swim for Fruit program at the Remote Aboriginal Swimming Pool in their town.

The program, run by Healthway and Royal Life Saving Society WA, encourages local Aboriginal children to participate in lap swimming. After each session they receive healthy fruit and/or vegetables as an incentive. Once the children reach a prescribed number of laps they are also eligible to earn prizes including goggles, Swim & Survive packs, t-shirts and flippers.

Boys and girls ranging in age from 5 - 17 years attended the pool to swim laps this term, and these three gorgeous girls came in first, second and third place for the most laps swum during the term.

Well done girls!
