This year was no different as the team headed to Melbourne to attend the three-day competition at Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre. The APLSC brings a sense of comradery with individual athletes, teams, volunteers and staff all coming together to make the event possible.

Throughout the competition, the WA State Team and the West Life Saving Club competed in a number of individual and team events including obstacle relays, manikin tow, CPR competition, super lifesaver and much more. We congratulate all those who competed for making WA proud at the championships!

The WA State Team took home six gold medals, one silver medal and two bronze medals with West Life Saving team members, Peter Traeger and David McCarron receiving four and one silver medallions respectively.

Jonnine Rowe, Royal Life Saving WA Sports Coordinator said, ''I cannot be prouder of this year's state team – they trained tirelessly under Bec Hartman, Jen Jones and our senior athletes whilst mentoring several new young athletes to the sport for the very first time.

"So to take out gold, a WA first in 22 years was very exciting and rewarding. We can't wait to continue our winning streak next year!''
