Royal Life Saving Day this Friday

5 November 2015

Our signature fundraising event, Royal Life Saving Day, is coming up this Friday 6th November 2015! Dippy Duck will be meeting and greeting people in the city and our Quackers inflatables will be making an appearance too!

Volunteers will be shaking Quackers donation ducks and selling duck merchandise in the city and at train stations across the metro area from 7 - 9.30am, and in the CBD from 9.30am - 12 noon.

Royal Life Saving Society WA is determined to reduce the incidence of drowning in our state, through our water safety education and drowning prevention programs. As a community based not for profit organisation we rely on the support of donors and volunteers to ensure our message reaches the wider WA community.

There were 39 drowning deaths recorded in WA over the past year, which is an alarming 15% increase on the 5 year average. Royal Life Saving Society WA CEO Peter Leaversuch says "we all need to play our part to ensure these statistics are reduced over the coming year. With another summer just around the corner I encourage everyone to think about how they might in their own way make a contribution to drowning prevention. It might be to improve your own lifesaving skills, raise awareness amongst your family and friends or make preparations to make sure you could help somebody in the water if the need arises. Put simply, Everyone Can Be a Lifesaver!"

We still need some more volunteers to assist with the event so if you have some free time from 7 to 9.30am or 9.30am to 12noon on Friday please get in touch with us!
