An amazing first day for WA at the Australian Pool Lifesaving Championships

It’s been a fantastic start for WA on day one of the Australian Pool Lifesaving Championships, with our team taking home 6 gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze medals along with three national records!

Jake Smith and Adam Moore by the pool with their medals from the Line ThrowJake Smith made an impressive start with gold and an Australian record in the Open Men's 100m Manikin Tow, gold in the Open Men’s 200m Obstacle Swim and silver in the Open Line Throw, while TJ Chong Sue has impressed in his age group with gold and an Australian record in the Men's Under 16 100m Manikin Tow, gold in the Men’s Under 16 200m Obstacle Swim and bronze in Under 16 Line Throw. He was also part of our Under 16 Mixed 4 x 50m Obstacle Relay team - along with Chalice Pratt, Dayna Tindall and Harrison Hynes - who claimed a gold medal and Australian record in the event. Chalice Pratt also won a gold medal in the Women's Under 16 100m Manikin Tow, Harrison Hynes took out a silver medal in the Under 16 Men’s 200m Obstacle Swim and was part of the silver medal winning Under 19 Mixed 4 x 50m Obstacle Relay team along with Maddi Howe, Madeline Thompson and Lachlan Meldrum. Madeline Thompson also took Bronze in Under 19 Women’s 200m Obstacle Swim, Adam Moore claimed Bronze in the Open Line Throw and Alicia Anderson won Bronze in the Open Women’s 200m Obstacle Swim.

As one of the smallest teams in the competition WA has certainly shone bright on day one and we wish our athletes all the very best as comptition continues over the next two days!
