WA Pool Lifesaving Team member Jake Smith has been selected in the Australian Life Saving Team squad for the World Life Saving Championships 2018 campaign. The World Championships will be held in Adelaide from 17th November to 2nd December 2018.

19 year old Jake, from the Breakers Swim Club at Craigie Leisure Centre, and who is also a swim coach at St Mary’s Anglican Girls School at Karrinyup, was a key member of our state team at the National Championships in January, bringing 4 silver and 2 bronze medals at the event.

As a member of the Australian Squad Jake will have an opportunity to participate in a number of international competitions including:

  • Sanyo Cup 2017
  • World Games 2017
  • Orange Cup / German Cup 2017
  • New Zealand Pool Champs 2017
  • International Surf Rescue 2017
  • Sanyo Cup 2018
  • New Zealand Pool Champs 2018
  • Life Saving World Championships 2018

To be selected in this National squad is the highest honour in Life Saving for all competitors, and we congratulate Jake on this achievement. We also wish him all the best as he continues to train for these upcoming events with the hope of making final selection for the Australian team to take part in the 2018 World Championships.
