New West Coast Eagles partnership is a game changer for Newman youth
In Newman, a new partnership between the West Coast Eagles and Royal Life Saving WA is helping young people step up to the plate in community leadership.
Through the Talent Pool Academy, youth in the Shire of East Pilbara are now representing the Eagles in their colours at weekly events across the Shire — developing their confidence and gaining skills in coaching and leadership that will help them in future careers.
Brendon Daily, the Youth Engagement Coordinator for the Eagles, joined forces with Royal Life Saving WA’s Tim Turner to get this initiative off the ground.
“We’re very proud to be able to give these amazing young people the opportunity to put on the colours and represent the club as West Coast Eagles,” Brendon said.

The Talent Pool Academy has always aimed to open doors for Indigenous youth across the state and provide opportunities to gain vital employment skills, and this partnership with the Eagles has been a game-changer.
According to Tim, the Eagles’ support has created valuable, paid mentorship roles for Newman’s youth.
“It has generated leadership opportunities for our Talent Pool Mentors. Brendon has and continues to be a role model for these young men as they kick and coach footy under a West Coast banner!”
Royal Life Saving WA and principal funding partner BHP are betting big on young people as future community leaders and empowering the next generation to lead, both on and off the field.
