Sunday Funday for Hedland families
Royal Life Saving WA was pleased to be involved in the Town of Port Hedland’s Aquatic Sunday Family Funday last weekend at the South Hedland Aquatic Centre. The pool party was designed to encourage local families to head back to the pool now that Spring has arrived, and it was a great day!
391 people attended the event, 90% of those families enjoying a day out together. There were a range of activities on offer including water games, volleyball, a sausage sizzle, inflatables, bombie competitions and whole lot more! One of the highlights was the Royal Life Saving WA staff and WA Police getting together to judge the dive competition and practising rescue techniques.
Town of Port Hedland Aquatic Coordinator Operations Brenden Roser says the event really was an incredible team effort. “Congratulations and thank you to the hard working and dedicated team! Zero medical incidents were reported on the day, not even a band aid, great job lifeguards! The Police were in attendance and made an enormous difference to the day, thanks to the Royal Life Saving team for their assistance and the JD Hardie team who ran the dryland activities – the kids had an absolute ball at this station.”
It seems everyone who attended got super hungry after being so active, which made the sausage sizzle incredibly successful with the BBQ team putting 250 sausages on bread in just 20 minutes!
Royal Life Saving WA is pleased to have been able to assist the Town of Port Hedland in running such a successful event with support from Principal Community Partner BHP. We look forward to being able to continue this partnership as the spring and summer season heats up at the region’s aquatic centres.
