Talent Pool Academy heading to World Conference on Drowning Prevention

28 November 2023

World Conference on Drowning Prevention 2023When it comes to the World Conference on Drowning Prevention, the more attendees the better.

Over 700 delegates will be attending the conference, being held at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre from December 4 to 7.

As part of Royal Life Saving WA’s commitment to supporting youth and regional attendance at the conference, six deserving Talent Pool Academy participants are being sponsored to attend – a once in a lifetime opportunity.

So, who are the chosen ones?

Congratulations to Piper Murdoch (17), Regan Hulse (18), Kurtis Jackson (17), Joziah Taylor (17), Meg Davies (17) and Faith Joseph (18).

One of the main aims of the Talent Pool Academy, which is supported by Principal Community Partner BHP, is to champion youth leadership and foster growth through collaboration and partnership with others in the aquatic industry.

These Talent Pool participants have been involved in the industry for a minimum of 18 months and show qualities of being great leaders.

The candidates have also been raising additional money for the trip to Perth through their Community Rescue Club, kayak and youth labour hire programs.

Regan and Piper are running the Community Rescue Club, drawing on the Swim and Survive curriculum as they both currently work as lifeguards.

Kurtis and Joziah are doing their best to recruit young men to the Talent Pool Academy after their positive experiences with the program.

Faith has just completed her Pool Operations course and Meg intends on following her passions in both lifeguarding and swim teaching.

All of them have promising careers ahead in the aquatic industry and hope to continue their work through Royal Life Saving WA.
