Specialised Access and Inclusion Lessons

Specialised Access and Inclusion Lessons

Participation in sport and recreation make an important contribution to the health and wellbeing of all people, particularly those with disabilities. However, due to physical and attitudinal barriers, people with disabilities often face challenges when trying to make these activities a part of their everyday life.

Royal Life Saving WA is committed to providing innovative and targeted swimming lessons to support these individuals and families, by breaking down the barriers to their participation, with the aim of providing all West Australians with an opportunity to learn essential swimming and water safety skills.

Supported by the Swim and Survive Fund, Royal Life Saving has been able to support Specialised Access and Inclusion Lessons (SAIL) at Kwinana Recquatic and other locations. These swimming lessons target children who may not have easy access to swimming and water safety education. For more information, click here

Royal Life Saving Society WA has previously partnered with the Autism Association of Western Australia to fund children with Autism in learning Swim and Survive. And, thanks to the WA Swim and Survive Fund, these children are now able to continue to take part in vital swimming lessons.

If you require financial support to enable a child with special needs to take part in swimming lessons, please visit the WA Swim and Survive Fund page by clicking here.

Please note, Royal Life Saving WA provides funding, but recipients must arrange specialised lessons through swim schools directly. It's recommended to join waitlists before applying, as funding does not guarantee a spot.
