As of the 1st of July 2016, professional development (PD) for first aid, aquatic and resuscitation trainers will be delivered online. Below is an outline of what will be available for the 2016/2017 year. You must complete two (2) PD with a minimum of one (1) RLSSWA PD sessions to requalify your trainers award. Trainers who are delivering and assessing a unit/s of competence are also required to complete all compulsory VET PD's.  Complete the form below to enrol in your preferred PD. 

Session 1 

Agonal Breathing, Defibrillation and Shockable Rhythms.

In this PD you will cover:

  • What is agonal breathing, causes,treatment and how to recognise the effects on a casualty.
  • What are shockable rhythms, causes and treatment
  • Defibrillation - why it's a priority, effectiveness, the importance of pad placement and recommendations for children and adults 

Online PD is available from the 1st July 2016 to the 1st June 2017. 

Face to face PD is available on the 12th of August 2016 in Mandurah 

Session 2  

Anaphylaxis.

In this PD you will cover information from the Australian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy (ASCIA). 

  • What is anaphylaxis
  • Causes
  • Signs and symptoms
  • Treatment

Online PD is available from the 1st July 2016 to the 1st June 2017.

Face to face PD is available on the 30th of September 2016 in Manjimup and the 14th of October 2016 in Kununurra.

Session 3 

First Aid, Pool Life Guard, Pool Operations trainers 

This professional development session is compulsory for all of the trainers who deliver and assess a unit/s of competence. 

Online PD is available from the 1st July 2016 to the 1st June 2017.

    Aquatic Trainers only (does not include Resuscitation Trainers).

    In this PD you will cover: 

    • Spinal injuries and spinal board management
    • Tow techniques
    • Rescue lifts and exits

    Online PD is available from the 1st July 2016 to the 1st June 2017.

    Face to face PD is available on the 09th of December in Bunbury
