Your RLSSWA Trainer Certificate will expire on June 30th. In order to deliver our programs it is essential that you update your status prior to this date.

Please see below a quick check list that will help you through the process of getting ready for requalification time*.

Aquatic, Resuscitation and Heart Beat Club Trainers requalification requirements

  • Holding current Bronze Medallion (Aquatic Trainers only) or Resuscitation Award (Resuscitation and Heart Beat Club Trainers)
  • Holding valid Working with Children Check
  • Complete/attend Professional Development sessions and achieve 9 points in total - see PD Plan and points assigned to each session
  • Delivery of at least (two) 2 training courses per year

First Aid and CPR Trainers requalification requirements

  • Holding a current Advanced First Aid and CPR ( First Aid Trainers only) or Provide First Aid and CPR ( CPR Trainers only)
  • Holding a valid Working with Children Check
  • Complete/attend Professional Development sessions and achieve 18 points in total (combination of 12 FAT and 6 VET topics) – see PD Plan and points assigned to each session
  • Maintain current industry skills ( min. 8 hours)
  • Delivery and assessment of a minimum of three (3) courses per year
  • Review of Trainer Performance - all First Aid Trainers must undertake a face-to-face performance review on one of their training courses. We have already performed more than 50% of reviews and we will continue to go through the process over the next financial year. 

Professional Development points system

  • Each RLSSWA Professional Development online session is valued 3 points
  • RLSSWA Trainer Seminar ( January 2019) is valued 5 points ( 3 + 2 VET)
  • RLSSWA Face-to-face PD ( October 2018) is valued 3 points
  • RLSSWA Wet Workshop ( April 2019) is valued 3 points
  • Professional Development sessions completed through external organisation will be validated case by case
