As of the 1st of July 2016, you must complete the following requirements in order to requalify for the 2017/2018 financial year.

Vocational Competence (must be updated yearly)

Vocational competency consists of broad industry knowledge and experience, combined with a relevant industry qualification or statement of attainment. You must hold the unit you are delivering and assessing or higher.

Current Industry Skills

Current industry skills are the knowledge, skills and experience required by VET trainers and assessors to ensure their training and assessment is based on current industry practices and meet the needs of industry.

This must include:

  • Eight (8) hours of practical experience in industry e.g. school camp supervisor, first aid officer at a child or adult sporting event, designated first aid officer within an organisation.
  • Two (2) RLSSWA Professional Development sessions.

VET Knowledge and Skills

Trainers and assessors are required to have current knowledge and skills in vocational training and learning that informs their training and assessment, and continue to undertake professional development in the fields of the knowledge and practice of vocational training, learning and assessment including competency based training and assessment.

  • VET Knowledge and Skills is embedded in RLSSWA Professional Development sessions.
  • Additional VET Knowledge and Skills PD sessions may be required.

Course delivery and assessment

You must deliver and assess at least one course per year.

Third Party Agreement

The Third Party Agreement is to be completed each year at time of requalification. Requalification opens in May and is valid from the 1st of July to the 30th of June each year.
