Every home pool owner can be a lifesaver

Six people drown in home swimming pools in WA each year and half of these are young children. Here are a few simple tips you can follow to ensure your pool stays safe for the whole family to enjoy.

  • Have your pool fenced installed by a registered installer. Visit the SPASA WA website for a list of recommended suppliers
  • Check your pool fence regularly. Use our home pool safety checklist to assess your home pool and its surrounds
  • Ensure your pool gate self-closes and latches
  • Ensure climbable objects are kept well away from your pool fence
  • Never prop your pool gate open
  • Always supervise children in and around the pool
