What is involved in the programs?

Participants will learn a variety of swimming and lifesaving skills, including how to conduct rescues, how to negotiate survival situations and how to stay safe in all waterways all year round! Programs may also include Kayaking, Stand Up Paddle boarding or visits from the Department of Parks and Wildlife's River Rangers, whereby participants conduct water testing and learn more about our beautiful Swan River. 

Who can participate?

  • Bronze Medallion programs:
These programs are suited for those who will be at least 14 by December 31st of the year the program is run. Both adults and children are encouraged to enrol.
  • Bronze Rescue/ River Ready programs:
Not quite 14 yet? These programs are for you! Children aged 10 and above are encouraged to enrol.

Where are programs run?

These programs take place at locations around Perth's Swan River or other inland waterways.  All program locations have access to shade, water and toilet facilities. 

What do participants receive?

  • Bronze Medallion programs:

Participants will obtain both their Bronze Medallion and Provide CPR Certificate. (Valid for 12 months)

  • Bronze Rescue programs:

Participants will be awarded one of RLSSWA's Bronze Rescue strand awards, dependent on their ability this may be Stage 13, 14 or 15. 

In both courses and in the river ready course you will also receive a certificate of completion and some take home resources. 

What do I need to bring?

Once you enrol in one of our courses, you will receive an email confirmation with full course details. We encourage bringing bathers, a towel, sunscreen, at least one full water bottle and lunch and snacks to keep you going!

Who runs the programs?

All courses are run by our experienced and qualified instructors. All instructors have a WWC, Bronze Medallion, Current CPR Certificate and Aquatic Trainer certification.
