Demonstration of Lifeguard Skills
Practical demonstration of Lifeguard skills with a Royal Life Saving WA Trainer or videoing practical
Option 1: Attend pool lifeguard requalification course

Option2: Submit video evidence of skills being performed. This option is only for extenuating circumstances in which face to face training before licence expiry is not reasonably feasible. Approval for this option must be received by Royal Life Saving WA.
The skills that need to be assessed are:
- Perform two aquatic rescues in deep water.
- Perform a spinal immobilisation, stabilisation and removal of a suspected spinal injury casualty from a swimming pool.
- Perform 2-person resuscitation on both an adult and child. Including demonstrating the use of oxygen supplemented, resuscitation equipment and automated external defibrillator (AED). Perform CPR for 5 minutes.
- Completing documentation including first aid and/or incident reports.
First Aid Qualification
A current first aid certificate (within 3-years or from attainment). Must be at least to the standard of HLTAID011 Provide First Aid.

Professional Development
Evidence of completing four professional development in the previous 12-months (SV9 - GSPO)
Options include attending in-person sessions or online professional development courses. Examples are below, but not limited to:
- In-house training
- Attendance at a LIWA conference
- Attendance at an Advanced CPR or First Aid course
- Lifeguard specific online PD courses with Royal Life Saving WA or equivalent.

Code of Conduct
Membership
I agree to become a member of Royal Life Saving WA and I have read, understood and agree to comply with the Royal Life Saving WA constitution and relevant Policies related to membership outlined in the link above.
Child Safeguarding
- I agree to abide by the Royal Life Saving WA Child Safe Code of Conduct
- I do not have any criminal convictions or findings of guilt for sexual offences, offences related to children or acts of violence
- I do not have any criminal charge pending before the courts
- I have not had any disciplinary proceedings brought against me by an employer or volunteer association involving child abuse, sexual misconduct or harassment, other forms of harassment or acts of violence
General Health
- I confirm that I am in good health and physical fitness to perform the duties of a Pool Lifeguard
- I confirm that I have 20/20 vision or I wear appropriate corrective lenses that enable me to have normal 20/20 vision to perform the duties of a Pool Lifeguard
- I confirm that I will inform my employer if my ability to perform the duties of a Pool Lifeguard is compromised by way of injury, or changes to my health and well-being
