A lifeguard working at a pool

As a pool lifeguard your job is to ensure the safety of others, to prevent accidents from occurring and to save lives. Few careers can give you that kind of job satisfaction that you’re making a real difference. A pool lifeguard is a challenging but extremely rewarding career.

Becoming a pool lifeguard not only gives you the skills to save lives but also gives opportunities to work abroad, start a career in the leisure industry or a great way for students to fund their studies.

Royal Life Saving Society WA has a range of pool lifeguard training courses to suit your needs. Each course will provide participants with the skills and knowledge needed to become a Pool Lifeguard and include: accident prevention, administration, public relations, education, scanning, communications, basic and advanced water rescues in an aquatic facility environment. We offer a pool lifeguard training course Perth and throughout Western Australia, to people who are either looking to start work, a job or a career.

International Lifeguards

Lifeguarding techniques often differ between countries and organisations. That doesn’t mean that Lifeguards from overseas can’t work in Western Australia. It does however mean that they may need to go through a process to have their training recognised. Overseas Lifeguards should be aware that not all overseas qualifications are recognised. Lifeguards will need to hold a current Pool Lifeguard certificate of that country that includes the International Life Saving (ILS) verification.
