Royal Life Saving’s aquatic technical operations (pool operations) courses provide the knowledge and skills to safely manage water quality and pool plant operations. The SISSS00131 Aquatic Technical Operator skill set that is vital for the safe and successful operation of a swimming pool. The course enables industry participants to gain the skills and expertise needed to monitor and maintain aquatic facility equipment and pool water quality, and coordinate the maintenance of aquatic facility plant and equipment. This is the nationally recognised skill set is for those wishing to work as an Aquatic Technical Operator.
For the purposes of the Code of Practice for the Design, Construction, Operation, Management and Maintenance of Aquatic Facilities this training meets the requirements for Group 1, 2, 3 and 4 aquatic facilitites in WA.
SISSS00131 Aquatic Technical Operator
The SISSS00131 Aquatic Technical Operator course is a 4-day course that is currently available for free to eligible students under the WA Government Department of Training and Workforce Development fee free funding. Those who are do not meet eligibility requirements for fee free funding may enrol in the course for $1,115.
Chlorine Gas and SCBA Training
This SISSS00131 Aquatic Technical Operator Skill Set does not include the chlorine gas component. If you intend to work at a facility or complete your practical hours, in Western Australia that operates with Chlorine Gas, you will need to complete additional training in handling chlorine gas and working with self-contained breathing apparatus.
The SISCAQU018 Operate self-contained breathing apparatus in aquatic facility emergencies course is scheduled the day after each ATO course for ease of participant planning. The course can also be enroled in as a stand-alone course.
Industry Requirement: LIWA requires individuals operating in a chlorine gas facility to complete this training on an annual basis.
