Are you due to update your skills?
Royal Life Saving WA recommends that first aid and lifesaving qualifications are updated on a regular basis. The industry standard for First Aid practitioners to maintain current competency is to be re-certified every 12 months for lifesaving CPR skills (in line with Australian Resuscitation Council Guildelines), and every 3 years for First Aid. Those with Pool Lifeguard and Bronze Medallion qualifications are required to update every 12 months.
How do I requalify?
Royal Life Saving Society WA provides a range of requalification courses. Please select the course you require from the list below:
CPR Requalification
First Aid Requalification
Pool Lifeguard Requalification
Aquatic Rescue Requalification
Bronze Medallion Requalification
Why you should update now!
It is vital to ensure you are informed of current first aid or lifesaving guidelines. Skills and knowledge change over time and it's important to ensure you are up to date so you can provide first aid or perform a rescue in an emergency situation. Research shows a person's skills in CPR decrease by 50% after just two months if they haven't practised the skill.
What if my qualifications have expired?
If you have not completed your update within the time frame listed above you may be required to a complete the full course. If you are only recently out of date by a month or so, you can still attend one of the requalification courses listed above. Feel free to contact us should you have any questions.
