
Over the past decade, the Kimberley region has recorded the 2nd highest drowning rate of any WA region.
In total, 51 drowning incidents have been recorded in the Kimberley region over the past ten years.
Kimberley Water Safety Forum 2021
The Kimberley Water Safety Forum brought together members of the Kimberley community in May 2021 to work towards the common goal of reducing the impact of drowning in the region.
Forum attendees heard from a variety of speakers while also getting the chance to work together in discussion groups throughout the event. Attendees included sport, recreation and education professionals, aquatic facility managers, local government staff, health promotion and injury prevention professionals, and Aboriginal community leaders.
