Jigalong

Shire of East Pilbara logoJigalong is a small remote Aboriginal community within the Pilbara region of WA. It is located on the edge of the Great Sandy Desert, around 1,250km north-east of Perth and 520km south-east of Port Hedland.

The community has become well known in recent years thanks to a feature film made about its rabbit-proof fence!

The area is home to the Martu people, whose population fluctuates between 100 and 500 depending on the time of year and activities in the community.
