Kambalda

Shire of Coolgardie logoKambalda is a small mining town within the Shire of Coolgardie in WA’s Goldfields region, around 60km south of Kalgoorlie. It is located on the western edge of the giant salt lake, Lake Lefroy, which is considered one of the best places for land sailing.

Kambalda is split into two townsites situated 4km apart – Kambalda East and Kambalda West. They were established after the discovery of nickel in the area in 1966 and became Australia’s first nickel mining towns.
