Swimming Lessons

The Swim and Survive school swimming program provides schools with quality swimming and lifesaving lessons for all age groups. The program seeks to increase the swimming and water safety skills of all Australian children in order to prepare them for safe participation in aquatic activity and prevent drowning.

There are a number of flexible options for schools participating in swimming lessons:

  • Royal Life Saving can organise the program for you, including instructors, enrolments, equipment and pool bookings at your local aquatic centre.
  • If your school has a pool onsite, Royal Life Saving can organise instructors, enrolments and equipment.
  • Your school can become a Royal Life Saving Endorsed School and your staff can run the program using the Swim and Survive resources. It is free to become a Endorsed School.

Learning to swim is a vital life skill that all Western Australian children need to safely participate on, in and around water. The Swim and Survive program identifies 16 critical stages in a child's development. The lower stages focus on teaching efficient support and movement in water. The higher stages include skill and knowledge in safety, survival and rescue, all while developing a strong and effective swimming technique.
