Bringing Heart Beat 45 Plus to Busselton

Busselton Masters Swimming Club participate in a Heart Beat 45+ sessionWho doesn't want to keep their heart beating?

This is why you should attend Royal Life Saving WA's Heart Beat 45+ initiative, delivered in partnership with the Department of Health.

There are going to be many more times and locations coming soon in the near future, so keep an eye out because we know you'll love it as much as the participants at Busselton Masters Swimming Club did!

So, what is Heart Beat 45+ you ask? It is a community education course specifically designed for adults who would like to learn more about how to respond in an emergency.

At Royal Life Saving WA, we want to help mitigate further drowning related deaths and emergency rescues, so we run these for you for FREE!

In the case of Busselton Masters Swimming Club, its members were given the opportunity to attend and learn valuable skills for emergency response. This included refreshing their resuscitation skills, as any skills not put into practice every six months are at risk of being forgotten.

Which is why it's imperative that everyone has up-to-date resuscitation and first aid skills and knowledge to ensure families, friends and everyone in between stays safe in and around the water.

Program Coordinator at Royal Life Saving WA, Jen Mickle says that everyone should know the lifesaving skills of resuscitation and first aid.

“Our goal is to create a community where everyone is a potential lifesaver,” says Jen. “When more people are trained in first aid, our communities become safer, more resilient places to live. Often the true value of first aid training is only realised in the unexpected moment of need. That’s why programs like the Heart Beat 45+ are so important. Every second counts in an emergency, so it’s not just about having the skills; it’s about building the confidence to use them when it matters most.”

Participants who took part in the program said that they now feel better equipped to respond in an emergency after completing the session.

”The Busselton Masters Swimming Club were delighted to have Lori from Royal Life Saving WA facilitate their Heart Beat 45+ course. The technical information and practical approach to various safety, rescue and resuscitation aspects of the course were informative and provided life skills for our members should the need arise. Our members are looking forward to another course for our new members next year'', said club representative Richard Stubbs.
