The Swim and Survive Open Days provided members of the community with the opportunity to check out the Swim School’s facilities, have a free-swimming assessment, participate in fun activities, such as pool inflatable sessions, aquatic games, pool demonstrations, a BBQ and saw participants walk away with some exciting giveaways.

A key element of the Open Day is the Swim Schools providing a free swim assessment to children, giving parents an insight into the skill level of their child and what is required to safely participate in aquatic activities in their local area over the coming summer.

Trent Hotchkin, Senior Manager, Swimming & Water Safety Education at Royal Life Saving says, “A key activity at each Swim School Open Day is the free swimming assessment to help parents determine what level their child is at, and the available options they can take to improve their child’s swimming ability at their local Endorsed Swim School.” Two Rocjingham Aquatic centre staff members standing at a merchadise table with Dippy Duck mascot

Royal Life Saving has a network of more than 130 Endorsed Swim Schools that meet Royal Life Saving safety standards and best practice for the delivery of swimming and water safety lessons. Endorsed Swim Schools deliver the Swim & Survive swimming and water safety program which aims to ensure that children are not only taught ‘how’ to swim but also ‘when and where’ to do so safely. Last year more than 230,000 WA children participated in the Swim & Survive program, which is proudly supported by BHP.

All Endorsed Swim Schools who participated in the open days are currently providing the best in aquatic education with the use of the Royal Life Saving WA Infant Aquatics, Swim and Survive, Bronze Rescue and Junior Lifeguard Club programs.

Royal Life Saving WA are proud to support the Endorsed Swim School community with these events by providing TV exposure, digital marketing, promotional flyers and posters, Swim and Survive giveaways and much more.

The Swim School open days are significant as it engages the community in a fun and exciting way, whilst also promoting the importance of swimming lessons and aquatic education.

The Swim School open days highlight the partnership Royal Life Saving WA has with the Endorsed Swim School community and the great work each one does in increasing the amount of people in WA learning to swim.
