Council Inspections

Pool and spa owners in Western Australia are required by law to have their facility barrier inspected every four years.

To ensure that your home pool or spa barrier will be deemed compliant on the first inspection, please follow the guidance contained in the Rules for Pools and Spas publication which is free to download. This comprehensive guide provides you with all the advice needed to get your barrier ready for assessment.

Private Pool/Spa Barrier Inspections

Royal Life Saving WA offers a home pool and spa barrier assessment service, which may be required for:

  • New property purchases, where the home includes a pool or spa;
  • Newly built pools or spas, where a notice of barrier compliance must be provided to a Local Government Authority
  • Property management (pre- or post-tenancy inspections)
  • After modification, or addition, of new pool fencing during upgrades or repairs
  • Dispute resolution

Barrier assessments are conducted by authorised Royal Life Saving Home Pool Barrier Assessors, who will gather photographic evidence on site and generate an electronic report that will be emailed to your nominated email address upon completion.

Service Cost

The standard fee for an assessment within the Perth metropolitan area is $165 inclusive of GST. The cost of an assessment outside the metro area may vary. Please contact us to discuss options for regional home pools.
