Expression of Interest - Board of Directors

Royal Life Saving WA is seeking Expressions of Interest for positions on the Board to govern the organisation through an exciting period as outlined in our Strategic Plan 2020 - 2025.

Your expression of interest should include a covering letter (no more than 750 words) outlining the skills, experience and attributes that would assist in the position. Applicants should take into consideration the specific skill and general requirements when drafting their response. The general requirements are:

  • Integrity
  • Interpersonal skills
  • An active contributor
  • Genuine interest and vision for the future

 

Royal Life Saving is committed to continual improvement, to strengthening our governance frameworks and is seeking to enhance its current Board. Ideally one of the appointments will have specific skills and qualifications in finance, banking, accounting and/or business.

The Royal Life Saving Board meets a minimum of 10 times per year. Typically for 2 hours per meeting at a convenient time and place. This Committee has a strategic and governance focus and is fully supported by Royal Life Saving staff. Directors may also be asked to contribute on sub-committees.

  • To be eligible you must be a Member of The Royal Life Saving Society Western Australia Inc.

About the Role

  • The Royal Life Saving Society WA Constitution entitles Directors to be appointed for a two year term.
  • The Board meets a minimum 10 times per year usually in Mt Claremont at the Royal Life Saving Head Office.
  • Meetings are currently scheduled for the last Thursday of the month commencing at 7.30am. An indicative time commitment is 2 hours per meeting.
  • Video and tele-conferencing facilities are available when Directors cannot attend in person or are based outside the Perth metropolitan area.
  • Director positions are voluntary.
  • Travel and accommodation expenses incurred in the course of Board activities are reimbursed.


The selection process

In accordance with the Royal Life Saving Society WA Constitution:

  • The Board will receive expressions of interest,
  • An evaluation will be conducted, this may include direct contact or an interview with candidates,
  • Candidate/s that provide the optimal skills and experience will be recommended by the Board on 7th October for acceptance by the Royal Life Saving Members at the Annual General Meeting on Thursday 21st October 2021.
