Programs

Working together with community organisations across the region, including Albany Leisure and Aquatic Centre and Katanning Swim School, Royal Life Saving WA provides a range of programs to the local community.

These programs help to increase lifesaving skills, water safety awareness and education, as well as encouraging healthy and safe participation in swimming and aquatic activities.

Junior Lifeguard Club

The Junior Lifeguard Club offers a unique alternative for those who love the water, want to be challenged and who want more than just lessons. The program provides opportunities for children to keep interested and active in aquatics, especially quick learners and those caught between levels and programs.

Infant Aquatics

The Royal Life Saving Infant Aquatics is taught with the child and parent/carer in the water together. Parents and carers are an integral part of a child's aquatic education by providing guidance and support through water familiarisation, exploration and water safety skills.

The program uses songs, games and activities to ensure children experience a variety of skills including entries, floating, breathing and movement.

Swim and Survive

Learning to Swim and Survive is a vital life skill that all Western Australian children need to safely participate on, in and around water.

The Swim and Survive program identifies 16 critical stages in a child’s development, with the lower stages focusing on support and movement in the water and higher stages focusing on safety, survival and rescue.

Bronze Rescue

The Bronze Rescue awards strand teaches an understanding of the lifesaving principles embodied in the four components of aquatic rescue education: judgement, knowledge, skills and fitness.

The central component of the Bronze Rescue program is the Bronze Medallion which has been operating for over 100 years with many Australians undertaking the program since commencement. Lifesaving skills learnt and developed through the program are highly regarded in the community.
